Kinki University SATREPS is a project formed through the collaboration of five different institutions to promote 'Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development'.

The participating organizations on the Japanese side are the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), and Kinki University. Also taking part are a Panamanian organization called Aquatic Resources Authority of Panama (ARAP), as well as the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC). For the next five years, the various organizations will work together to promote research into yellowfin tuna (YFT) and Pacific bluefin tuna (PBT).

March 10, 2016 SATREPS International symposium entitled "Walk together towards the future; stably supplying high quality foods" was held at the Sumithsonian Tropical Research Institute, Pnama City, Republic of Panama.
March 8, 2014 A symposium entitled "Resource Conservation and Full-life Cycle Aquaculture of Yellowfin Tuna in Panama, Latin America " was held at the Tsukiji Market Hall , Tokyo
March 2, 2012 A special session entitled "Tuna Aquaculture and Stock Management for Sustainability " was hosted at the Aquaculture America 2012 held at the Paris Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas, U.S.A.
February 27, 2012 A talk session, "Panama: Support Sustainable Fishing and Aquaculture of Tuna, a Japanese Favorite !" was held at the World Bank Tokyo Office.
